FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) is an international program for 9 to 14 year-old children, created in a partnership between FIRST® and The LEGO Group in 1998 to get children excited about science and technology – and teach them valuable employment and life skills.
More than 1400 elementary and middle school children, working in teams, have spent the last three months building robots and developing research presentations in preparation for the tournament season. During December, 140+ teams competed at six qualifying tournaments held in Huntsville, Houston, Katy, Sugar Land, The Woodlands and League City. The top 60 teams have now qualified to move forward to the southwest Texas region’s Championship Tournament, to be held January 7, 2012 at Reagan High School.
